Lee Jieun
Jieun Lee translates time and memory into color, capturing unconscious emotions and experiences on canvas. She carefully embraces her evolving inner self while closely observing her surroundings, expressing moments through color and form.
Motifs such as the sea, plants, gardens, and morning landscapes from her travels function not merely as representations of scenery but as emotional spaces that embody an emotional presence and reflect the inner self. She allows contrasting emotions—tranquility and anxiety, love and fear—to coexist within a single frame, revealing feelings in their full complexity without
suppressing or simplifying them.
Her works, which capture traces of everyday life—memories of travel, contemplations along walking paths, and moments of joy and sorrow—invite viewers to reconnect with forgotten memories and emotions. Beyond providing a visual experience, her paintings encourage audiences to discover their own reflections and the subtle rhythms of emotion within their daily lives.
